輪島大祭は奥津比咩神社大祭、重蔵神社大祭、住吉神社大祭、前輪島神社大祭の４つの祭りの総称です。夜に行なわれる輪島大祭では、キリコが回転したりする暴れがあったり、火のついた松明が倒れた時に御幣を奪い合うなど勇ましい様子が見どころです。
輪島大祭で規模が一番大きいのは重蔵神社大祭ですが、住吉神社大祭は橋の上でキリコが走ったり御神事太鼓の演奏が見られ、輪島前神社大祭では鯛の形をした神輿があったりキリコが何度も街中を走り回るなどと、輪島大祭の各祭りには、おのおの特徴があります。

The Wajima Festival is the general name for the 4 festivals held at Okutsuhime Shrine, Shigezo Shrine, Sumiyoshi Shrine, and Mae Wajima Shrine. In the evening of the Wajima Festival kiriko lantern floats are turned around violently, and when the torches fall people compete for gohei (money). The brave scenery is worth seeing.
