柴燈護摩とは野外において行う護摩であり、真言宗醍醐派に１３００年の歴史を経て伝わる秘法であるという。その護摩の火を渡り、日々の生活の中で知らず知らずのうちに身に積もる罪や埃を清める儀式であり、人々の願いを祈念する一大祈願会である。

Saito Goma is a ritual performed outside, passed down for 1300 years in the Daigo-ha Shingon Buddhist Sect. They perform the ritual by walking across the Goma fire to burn away the sins that pile up inside. It is a large prayer event for this purpose.
