白川郷では毎年、9月の終わりから10月にかけて、五穀豊穰・家内安全・里の平和を山の神様に祈願する「どぶろく祭」が盛大に行われます。
各地区の神社で、御神幸、獅子舞、歴史と民話にまつわる民謡や舞踊などの神事が繰り広げられ、神社では祭礼に神酒として用いられる「どぶろく」が人々にも振る舞われます。

The Doburoku Festival, a very grand festival, is held annually in Shirakawago around the end of September going into October, for the purpose of praying to the deity of the moun-tains for good harvest, safety in the home, and peace in the village.
At various shrines, Mikoshi carrying, Shishi dances, ritualistic, historic and folk related folk songs and dances are performed, and holy sake called Doburoku is given to participants at the shrine during the festival.
